About handcrafted door canopies
Our handcrafted door canopies are individually hand-made to your specifications.
There are 3 styles of canopies I make:
- The apex canopy
- The lean-to canopy
- The open fronted apex canopy
You can find photos of the different styles here.
Slide-over canopies
The apex and lean-to style are both also available as a slider-over canopy. If you have an existing concrete slab canopy there is no need to remove it, as this type of canopy is especially made to slide over and cover it.
Construction
The apex and lean-to canopy are of timber construction and finished in UPVC, white being the standard colour but other colours are also available. The arms and brackets are of timber construction for strength.
The open-fronted apex canopy is entirely made of wood (except the roof tiles, see below).
The wooden sections are given three coats of paint - primer, undercoat and satin finish in the colour of your choice: white, anthracite grey, rosewood, black ash, or light oak.
For all styles of canopy, the roof is made using lightweight grey plastic roofing slates, a durable and low-maintenance alternative to real slate tiles, and widely used in the conservatory industry.
Fitting
All canopies are fitted to the house wall. The arms/brackets are bolted to the wall, then the canopy placed on top and bolted into the arms/brackets. The canopy is also secured to the house wall with a metal bracket at the apex. A lead substitute flashing is fitted to the house wall and canopy edge to form a watertight seal.
Sizes
Canopies are available in widths from 1 metre (40 inch) to 2.4 metre (94 inch). The depth of the apex and lean-to canopy from the house wall to the front edge of the canopy vary approximately from 55cm to 60cm (approx. 24 inches).
As all our canopies are built to order, they can be made to any size within reason. Please ask for your ideal size, and we will do our best to provide the perfect canopy for your home!>
